Changelog
A dated list of changes to GPA Climb, newest first. Each line summarizes a real change in the site's history. Found something wrong? Email [email protected] and, once we confirm and fix it, the correction is logged here. See the editorial policy.
- Holidays now feel more alive: a small welcome band under the header greets you with a moving illustrated scene and a warm line (for example, "Happy Halloween! Take a study break tonight; your plan will be right here tomorrow."). Close it once and it stays closed for that holiday. The header icon moves gently, and the climb picture got richer colors, soft glows and slow, ambient motion: falling leaves, drifting snow and twinkling lights, bats crossing the moon, fireworks over the summit, hearts, shamrocks, petals and a butterfly, and tossed caps for graduation. Motion pauses when it is off-screen or the tab is hidden, stops completely with reduced motion (you see a still picture instead), never covers a number or an input, and the footer switch still turns it all off.
- Calculator results on phones no longer push the page down as they load (the Raise GPA calculator was the most noticeable).
- Added seasonal touches to the climb picture: small pumpkins and bats for Halloween, autumn leaves at Thanksgiving, snow and lights in December, fireworks for New Year and the Fourth of July, a graduation cap in May and June, a respectful flag on federal holidays and a gentle color palette for each season. They are picked from your own date, never cover a tool or result, stay still when reduced motion is on, and can be turned off in the footer.
- Rewrote copy across the site in plainer, warmer American English: shorter sentences, contractions, "check" instead of "tick", and softer wording in place of words like "meaningless". No numbers, formulas, sources or legal terms changed.
- The GPA journal now shows a quiet reminder to download a backup after every two new terms saved since your last export. "Not now" hides it until two more saves.
- On the HOPE GPA estimator, the climb picture now sits beside the HOPE, Zell Miller and rigor summary on wider screens instead of leaving half the result card empty.
- Added the climb picture to the GPA, cumulative, raise, target and HOPE calculators: your GPA is a marker on a mountain trail and your goal (or the HOPE 3.00 and Zell Miller 3.70 GPAs) is the summit.
- Added "Smallest steps": the smallest realistic changes that reach your goal, with exact numbers, or your margin when you are already above it.
- Added milestone moments when your grades move a result past a real goal, with a short summit burst that is skipped when reduced motion is on.
- Added My climb card (a keepsake image in two sizes you can download, share or print), "Explain this to my parents", and calendar reminders, including the January 15 date GSFC posts the Zell Miller ACT equivalent.
- Launched the GPA journal at /my-gpa: save terms from 9th grade on, see term and cumulative GPA on a timeline, and back it up to a file. It stays on your device.
- Added trust signals: a "How we calculate this" link, a verification line and a privacy line under every tool result, and this changelog.
- Made every page use one shared container and a comfortable line length for text.
- Expanded the guides, expanded the legal pages, and added a claims audit, a content check for every calculator page and the groundwork for ads (switched off).
- Clarified the wording of the HOPE GPA result and page title.
- Launched the Georgia HOPE and Zell Miller HOPE GPA estimator, based on the Georgia Student Finance Commission rules.
- Redesigned the site with a new look, dark mode, grouped navigation, a shared calculator layout, and the methodology and editorial policy pages.
- Added the privacy policy, About and Contact pages, brand icons, a longer guide to raising your GPA and cited sources.
- Fixed canonical URLs and search-listing issues, and made the college finder sort by enrollment by default.
- Added eight more calculators and data cleanup rules and small-school filtering to the college finder.
- Added the college finder and six college pages using U.S. Department of Education College Scorecard data.
- Added the "What is my GPA worth?" tool and four pages about 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5 GPAs.
- Launched the first GPA, raise-GPA, target-GPA, major GPA and midterm calculators, with a shared tested GPA formula.
- Created the site: layout, legal pages and sitemap.
